CC fun and Old Guys Rule ~

I think I am still recovering from spending 3 days at the famous Comic Con San Diego that ended on Sunday.  I walked the floors and took in the sights while Brett and his 2 friends did their thing.
It was our first time (Brett and I) and I learned there is a lot to learn about attending.  Next time, I will be better prepared!  It was still so much fun to see the exhibits, movie stars and all the costumed characters.  I would not trade one minute of the chaos I spent with my son, he was in heaven!
I was giddy when we bumped into Jason Ritter outside of The Hard Rock.  He stars in one of my favorite television shows, Parenthood, and was as nice and friendly as I expected him to be.  He was so gracious to let me have a photo op with him.  He made my Saturday! :)

Jay's birthday is today and these are the tags and card that I made yesterday to go along with his gifts.
I found Old Guys Rule patterned paper when I was out looking for paper for thank you card sets at the end of the school year.  I had no idea that was a line that was out there, but I guess it is not being made anymore which is a sad thing.  It is a great paper for those who favor this line of clothing, which Jay does.

The wedding is less than 2 weeks away, time has flown!

Have a great day!

Congratulations~

Simple wedding card for my neighbor who got married this weekend up in Sonoma.
I made their invites and thought that it would be fun to make their wedding card using the same colors, stamp set, font and patterned paper.

So, something happened last week that has put my shoulders back into a bit of a tizzy.  I have been making so much progress that it is a bit defeating to have gone backwards a little bit.  Not unusual, I suppose, but discouraging.  So scoring those grid lines was slow and methodical.....

Card tidbits:

Finished card is 5-1/2" x 5-1/2"
  • Sentiment is computer generated and then die cut with a Spellbinders die.
  • The floral image from Crafty Secrets Flourishes is stamped in Rich Razzleberry.
  • Grid panel was made using my Scor-Pal; scored on the diagonal every half inch, rotated 180 degrees and repeated.
  • Ribbon is wrapped around image panel and then the entire panel is mounted to the base with dimensional foam.

It's Your Birthday~

Layout inspired by my dear friend, Cindy Lyles, who in turn was inspired by a blog I discovered not too long ago.

A few card tidbits:
  • Edges of patterned paper are inked with a dauber using Memento Toffee Crunch ink.
  • Butterfly was stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle onto patterned paper and trimmed, edges inked with Toffee Crunch.
  • Right edge of card base is roughed up with a distressing tool.
  • Banner strip is from one of the designs in the patterned paper family and punched with a square punch before stapling to the card.
  • Sentiment is stamped repeatedly and then trimmed down to fit.
  • Sentiment strip and butterfly panel are popped up with dimensional foam.

 Finished card is 5-1/2" x 5-1/2"

HB Dear Friend~

Birthday card for a dear friend I met many years ago.
Skirt is paper pieced and popped up with dimensional foam. Bodice is paper pieced with the reverse side of the flower paper.  Crinkle ribbon bow is knotted at the waistline.
I fiddled with somewhere to place a greeting, but nothing worked in a balanced way, so I left it sentiment free.  Inside sentiment: Celebrate in Style

Finished card is 4.25" x 5.5"

Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia
Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants
